Short answers to what people ask before their first text. Where something is still being decided, the answer says so.
About iDoctor
What it is, and who decides.
Is iDoctor a doctor?
No. iDoctor is an AI.
What can iDoctor do?
It can explain your results in plain words, organize your records, remember what you've told it, look over your medicines for possible interactions, and send the reminders you ask for. None of that needs a medical decision. AI can make mistakes.
When does a physician get involved?Coming soon
Whenever something needs a medical decision: a diagnosis, a new prescription or a renewal, a test order, or what to do about a new symptom. iDoctor takes your history first. Then a physician reviews it and replies, signed with their name.
What happens in an emergency?
Before the AI reads a message, iDoctor checks it for emergency signs. If it finds one, it tells you to call 911, or 988 in a mental-health crisis, and stops there.
iDoctor is not an emergency service. If you think you're having an emergency, call 911 first.
Using it
Messages first, the web when you want it.
Do I need an app?
No. You text iDoctor in Messages, like any other contact. There's nothing to download and no password to remember.
What about Android?
iDoctor works over iMessage, which needs an iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Can I use it on the web?
Yes. Sign in at idoctor.com to see your chart and the agreements you've made.
Which languages?
The web portal is in 11 languages: English, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, 日本語, 简体中文, 한국어, العربية, and हिन्दी. iDoctor replies in English for now.
Can a family member help me?
Coming. Caregiver access is being designed. The plan is that you choose what a family member can see or do, you both get a receipt for it, and you can stop sharing at any time with one text.
Sensitive topics, like mental health and reproductive health, would never be shared by default.
Privacy
Your records, your call.
Who can see my information?
You can see everything, at any time. Some iDoctor staff can see it too, to run the service and check its safety.
Companies that run parts of the service, such as messaging and hosting, handle data on iDoctor's behalf. The Privacy Notice lists the kinds of companies.
Do you sell my data?
No. iDoctor doesn't sell your data or show you ads.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can download a copy of your records, or delete your account. Your records are erased from iDoctor after 30 days.
Backup copies roll off on their own schedule, and the companies that handle payments and messages keep their own records.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. iDoctor does not train AI models on your conversations, health data or any personal information, and its AI provider does not retain your data for model training under its agreement.
Cost
How much does it cost?
New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. After that, messaging, document uploads and AI features need a paid subscription: $19 a month, or $180 a year.
Do you take insurance?
No. iDoctor doesn't take insurance; you pay directly.
Still have a question? Text iDoctor.
Ask it in your own words, the same way you'd ask about your health.
